In 1976 Piero Dondi (keyboardist) and
Armando Pozzo (guitarist and singer) form a band which is the synthesis of
their personal musical likes: Armando’s “hard” nature (inspired by J.
Hendrix, Cream, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones) mingles with
Piero’s “softer” disposition, influenced by the more conceptual and
symphonic Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis and Beatles.
Owing to their classical background, they maintain their sensitivity and
faithfulness to clear and understandable harmonization, to the not
excessive use of odd tempos, to the search for meaningful trends also
intelligible to the uninitiated. In those days it was quite common,
instead, to hear musical degenerations difficult to understand and silly
pseudo-psychedelic melodies.
Contamination, anyway, comes from different sources: Mass Media’s creative
eclecticism still recalls the above mentioned pop&rock leaders plus
mythical artists like Chick Corea, McLaughlin, Jeff Beck. But their own
music goes beyond them with eclectic and original-sounding composition.
Several musicians – drummers Roberto Sasso, Luca Tuffanelli and Pino Farinella, bass
players Benny Pizzuto, Adriano Schirripa, Cosimo Fusco, Alberto Rinaldi, Moreno Ciccardi
and Fulvio Bosio, guitarist and
singer Tiberio Boido and Ivano Vartuli – have joined the band in different times leaving
tracks of their personality but never betraying the original and coherent
style of the two founders.
