Educated at a classical music
conservatory, he gave in to Prog’s enticements when Prog’s embryo was
The
Beatles, in contrast with The Rolling Stones. Piero’s eclecticism, his
University degree in Architecture
and his disposition towards technology – today IT and website
constructions take most of his time – made
him a natural ‘victim’ of the charm of Van der Graaf, Genesis, Yes,
etc, refusing Mahavishnu’s virtuoso
excess or Tangerine Dream’s boring technology or Pink Floyd’s elegant
psychedelic bluff (with due
respect).
Composition versatility, technique and heart, rhythm and communication,
understandable refinement are
Piero’s talents: these are also Mass Media’s gifts. Musicians
collaborating with the band often say at
first: “Is that all?”. Then they have to sweat blood to come into line
with the seeming plainness of
their music. Mass Media try to make the same impression as Gothic
architecture makes: to arouse interest
in both the overall and the particular view. |
